What is smartfilm?
Smart film is a modern privacy solution for glass surfaces that lets you control the transparency of the glass electronically.
Smart film is suitable for use in both homes and offices and is applied to existing glass, with no need to replace the glass.
Standard smart film is frosted without power and becomes transparent when electricity is connected. Reverse smart film is also available, which stays transparent when the power is off and turns frosted when electricity is connected. It is a good solution for places where privacy is needed only temporarily.
Smart film transparency can be controlled via a wall switch, dimmer, remote control, motion sensors or a home automation system, giving the user flexible control over privacy and light. Smart film adds new functionality to glass surfaces, combining privacy, light transmission and modern design.

Smartglass features
Smartglass is a glass solution that works like smart film, but instead of being installed, the film is integrated between two panes of glass at the factory. This makes smart glass a sealed and protected glass unit in which the film is not exposed to moisture, dirt or mechanical wear.
Because of this, smart glass is also suitable for use in high-humidity rooms, such as bathrooms, spas and health centres. In Estonia, smart glass is often used in offices, meeting rooms, hotels, clinics and modern commercial spaces where privacy, sound insulation and a durable solution are important. Compared to smart film, smart glass offers better sound insulation and greater durability, but it is also a more expensive solution, as it requires replacing the existing glass with a factory-made glass unit.

Why prefer Smartfilm instead blinds?
Smart film is a better choice than a roller blind for several reasons. First, it reduces solar heat transfer through the window. This helps keep the room temperature steady and reduces the need for summer air conditioning, which in turn helps cut energy costs.
Second, roller blind fabrics tend to collect dust, dirt and moisture, creating a favourable environment for bacteria and microbes. Smart film, in contrast, gives bacteria no surface to grow on and is easy to clean, which helps keep the room cleaner.
Third, a roller blind wears out faster, as using it requires constant raising and lowering, and the blind fabric also deteriorates under the sun's rays. Smart film, on the other hand, is an electronic solution that needs no physical adjustment, so it keeps its appearance and functionality longer than a roller blind.
Fourth, when using a roller blind it is not possible to look out of the window. Smart film, on the other hand, allows multi-level control, where transparency can be adjusted to suit your needs. This lets you enjoy an even temperature and a view out of the room without having to give up privacy.
